Bronze medal, Τsiavou – Giazitzidou, August 4, 2012, lightweight double sculls. London 2012.

The bronze medal was won in the lightweight double sculls by Alexandra Tsiavou and Christina Giazitzidou, who finished in third place after a sensational race. Our girls even fought for gold, missing silver in the last meters only by 16 cm against the Chinese team Xu & Huang.

The Greek duo made an impressive start to the grand final, but after 1000m, Britain’s Copeland and Hosking pulled away with a safety margin and showed their clear superiority in front of the enthusiastic crowd on Lake Dorney.

First place went to Great Britain and second to China, who overtook the Greek crew on the finish line.
