Stelios Aggeloudis

1st Vice President - Handball

Stelios Aggeloudis was born in Ano Poli, Thessaloniki, where he still lives today. He is a graduate of the Law School of the Hellenic Army Academy (SSAS). He reached the rank of Captain before resigning to practice active law. During his service in the Armed Forces, he founded the Public Information Office of the Ministry of National Defense in Thessaloniki, serving as its first director.

In 1985, he obtained a second law degree specializing in Public Law from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has also served as a legal advisor at ERT3.

Aggeloudis held the positions of Special Secretary for Sports in Macedonia–Thrace at the Ministry of Culture and Secretary General of Commerce at the Ministry of Development. Through these roles, he contributed to:

  • The creation of numerous sports facilities, including the Poseidon National Swimming Pool and KAPPA, Europe’s only Sports and Cultural Center for People with Disabilities.
  • Drafting the legal framework for e-commerce.
  • Relocating the old Meat Market from the city center to the Thessaloniki Central Market facilities.

He served as President of the Hellenic Handball Federation, playing a key role in the sport’s growth and recognition.

Since 2001, he has been a member of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, currently holding the position of First Executive Vice President. He founded the National Olympic Academy, serving as its first president. He was also an Executive Advisor for the Athens Olympic Games and a member of the Athens 2004 Organizing Committee.

Aggeloudis established Greece’s first Olympic Museum, officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee, integrating Thessaloniki into the global Olympic community.

In 2010, he became President and CEO of the Thessaloniki Port Authority. His tenure was marked by the redevelopment of the first pier, opening the port to the city, and incorporating Thessaloniki into the cruise tourism network.

After completing his term at the port, he returned to his legal career and duties at the Hellenic Olympic Committee.

In October 2023, he was elected Mayor of Thessaloniki.

He is married and has two children.
